Sugar Kisses

For the V-day prix fixe at BOA, they are serving a drink called a "Cotton Candy Kiss," which is a martini rimmed with cotton candy fluff!

Edible Art

I'm sorry, but I just can't stand looking at those damn Marzipan Babies, Marizpan Babies, Marizipan Baby, Marzpian Babies, Marzipan Baby anymore.

Instead of using real food to look like art, Peter Anton uses clay, plaster and wire to make art that looks like food. Check out his other works, including a giant ice cream bar and giant chocolate covered strawberries.

Marzipan Babies

Marzipan babies don’t exist, you say?? Well, they do now! Real, honest to goodness marzipan, I made it myself. And if having my hands all over the marzipan didn’t make you sick, you could most definitely eat them.

So, Snopes, here’s your marzipan baby. Maybe Camille Allen is too afraid to try a medium as difficult as Marzipan, but we here at 1 cent short are definitely not! We may not be quite as detailed, but we’re just as ugly as any newborn baby artist. Celine Dion, Anne Geddes, I challenge you to put this under cheesecloth and pretend its a fetus!

Because human babies totally grow out of eggs. this book says so: Mommy Laid an Egg

Gosh, they’re the ugliest things ever! If there’ s popular demand these babies will go up on ebay. Until then, they’re living in a dish in my kitchen, waiting for me to bite a head off.

Secret life of Sushi

Clare Crespo has nothing on us. Jana helped too, but she didn't stick around for the pictures.

Who knew how far fruit rolls, gummies and coconut could go. No, it's not ginger, wasabi or roe, that's marzipan.

There was also seahorse sushi, but we didn't get a great picture of it.

Goody (six) shoes

Thanks Jana for taking me to the shoe warehouse. I'm very proud of my purchases.

Super Meat Pocket... Jewelry?

Hey, this jewelry company has 3 out of 4 of the meat pocket friends in sterling silver jewelry!!! I am half outraged, half enamored... They're only like $40 too. Does Jana want a tortellini necklace for her birthday?

Chiptini, Anyone?

The Kettle Brand chip company is taste-testing its new possible flavors for 2006. And, yay, you can order limited supply party pack samples of all 5 flavors (plus "ballots to rate each flavor’s deliciousness," tasting guides, and tips on how to host your very own "Happy Hour Party") for only $10. Blah to that. But you can also vote on which flavor sounds yummiest, and I guess this year's theme is "Happy Hour" because two of the flavors are drinkish.

The photo on the webpage of the potato chips in the martini glass reminded me of C. Maybe we should split the $10 and have a party?

Eww, Light Mayo!?

These felt boxes by Hable Construction are super adorable, but will cost you an arm and a leg (ranges from $48-$160 depending on sizes and where you buy them). I say we make some ourselves...

Cup Couture

Bean from KROQ has a new blog. And for some reason, he’s just not excited about Cup Couture.

There are 2 models, lovely washable cotton and retarded unwashable faux fur. Drinking out of a stuffed animal has never really been my goal. And there’s no excuse for that kind of wastefulness. The cotton ones are nice though. The prices are a bit much, but think of all the trees you’re saving. (too bad it's not being marketed that way)

I used to carry a paper sleeve in my backpack so I didn’t have to keep wasting new ones. I threw them away when they got dirty. I would have been willing to wash a cloth one, I think. But, in Berkeley they didn’t automatically put the paper sleeves on your cup. Maybe they’re hippie like that in Seattle too. But currently the people at Starbucks get confused when you say you don’t want a sleeve.

They seem to not be available yet. I might try my hand at making one when I start my sewing this weekend. My coffee just isn't cute enough.
