The AeroGarden, now that I have your attention, is a cross between the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and a George Foreman grill. The brochure, which I picked up from the demo-station at Sur la Table, has a whole diagram area which uses phrases like "Plug 'n Grow Bio-Dome Seed Pods," and "Aeroponic Optimizing Chamber" and "Computerized Smart Garden Technology." You just stick the Bio-Dome seed pods on the teflon top, plug it in, set the Add-Nutrient delivery system to reset, and go go go! Or should I say, grow grow grow! The "AeroPonic technology creates a near-perfect rainforest growing enviroment!" Just the sort of technical mumbo jumbo I want to not think about while harvesting organic cherry tomatoes to have the nanny feed to my kids.

I’m on the hunt for a bunch of cheap but cute wall clocks for my apartment. I want to hang a bunch of them up all on one wall, and label them with names of different cities, kind of like in a newsroom.

Only instead of setting up the standard NEW YORK/ROME/TOKYO thing, I decided that the cities I pick will be cities that my friends live in. I figure, this way, it will not only be a little more personalized, it will also serve as a way for me to know when it is inappropriate for me to call them.

While on my hunt, I came across this hideous pizza clock. Who knew there was such a thing? Hideous. I feel like it goes really well with that convenience store cook book Cyndi just got from Kim. You can get one of these clocks here.

We all know her Hello Kitty stuff, but now Barbie. For some reason it seems familiar to me. But, I don't know why. Surely I would have blogged it before if I had pics.

I have to say the $500 tiara is awesome! I wish I had a boyfriend who was rich and retarded enough to buy it for me. But that cameo is the only thing I really like. And it seems most of the Barbie line is pretty generic.

I think the Hello Kitty stuff is better as a whole.

There's an article and picture in today's LA Times West Magazine of Susina's super decadant banana cream pie. It has enough heavy cream to bring a health man to his knees. Only the article and recipe are available online. The picture is even better than the ones above.

We should go to the bakery. It's not far from the Grove, and I'm dying to see the new American Girls store. I'm not sure I'm ready to attempt making the pie. But, maybe with some moral support.

UPDATE: Also not far from the Grove is Doughboys Bakery.According to Oprah's friend Gayle, the red velvet cake is amazing. I think the breakfast menu sounds awfully good.

When I was little I used to play with my Sylvanian Family dolls (now called Calico Critters in the U.S.). I had two families: Gray Bear and Babblebrook Rabbits. I loved them and had furniture sets to accompany them. However I didn't have the Hamster Family. They are cute! Bean from KROQ has a new blog. And for some reason, he’s just not excited about Cup Couture.

There are 2 models, lovely washable cotton and retarded unwashable faux fur. Drinking out of a stuffed animal has never really been my goal. And there’s no excuse for that kind of wastefulness. The cotton ones are nice though. The prices are a bit much, but think of all the trees you’re saving. (too bad it's not being marketed that way)

I used to carry a paper sleeve in my backpack so I didn’t have to keep wasting new ones. I threw them away when they got dirty. I would have been willing to wash a cloth one, I think. But, in Berkeley they didn’t automatically put the paper sleeves on your cup. Maybe they’re hippie like that in Seattle too. But currently the people at Starbucks get confused when you say you don’t want a sleeve.

They seem to not be available yet. I might try my hand at making one when I start my sewing this weekend. My coffee just isn't cute enough.

So I was flipping through the October InStyle today and I saw some ad for Jones New York, which is a store I have no interest in. It featured Brook Shields hocking a tshirt to benefit education or teachers or... can you see how I just don't care? But then I noticed that her shirt was familiar looking, and upon closer investigation, I realized that it was designed by Ryan McGinness, a graphic artist that I personally adore.

So now while I couldn't give two craps about JNY or finding out whatever they're supporting, I'm kind of debating if I want to track down this shirt. I guess the shirt did its job. And I guess I can't be any worse than my parents, who always send money to the American Lung Assn and the Indian School in S Dakota because we feel guilty that they send us custom address labels...

If you do a Google search for the phrase “t-shirt quilt,” you’re going to get everything from step by step video instructions on how to make your own, to personal websites of little grandmothers in Virginia who will make a custom quilt for you for the nominal fee of around $300. Of course, why pay someone else when you can do it yourself, I always say.

A few years back I saw a photo and very basic instructions for a t-shirt quilt in Budget Living, and I kept the page even though I know nothing about quilting. It’s filed in my “projects” binder, and I’ll get to it eventually. I think that this qualifies as a good gift for a guy because t-shirts are primarily a guy thing. While a girl will build a cute outfit around a t-shirt once or twice a week, a guy can basically be stylish, comfortable, and make a statement with just the tee alone. Every day. Every week. All year long. In California, boys can wear just t-shirts and shorts every day even in the middle of winter and get away with it. Not that I approve of such behavior. But it happens.

As for making one for myself, there is no way you can make a decent quilt out of a bunch of tiny baby tees.

But the biggest problem in making a quilt is collecting enough non-white t-shirts to actually form a whole quilt (unless you WANT a white quilt). So of the 50000 search results for "t-shirt quilts," stich’T was by far the best one I could find. They are also featured on Elsewares, which is how I found them in all the mess. They make quilts, throws, duvet covers and crib blankets from vintage tees built around themes or color schemes. They will also fill in any color or theme gaps for your custom order if you don’t have enough shirts to create a whole quilt or throw. This service alone makes the cost suddenly worthwhile.

I actually think these recycled beer bottle glasses from Green Glass are a cute product that everyone can love. But beer is often sterotyped as a guy thing, so it somewhat qualifies as a Boy Toy. Apparently Green Glass produces a whole line of recycled glassware which is popular in Europe:

My tweezers seem to be broken, they've pretty much stopped being able to pull the hair out of my face. I like to think this is because of the tweezers, and not my face. Can anyone recommend a good pair/ brand?

Also, I'm looking for a not ugly brown sequin shrug thing. and possibly a beige sequined neckline tank to wear under it. There are so many ugly ones, surely there's a few nice ones.

I thought this LL Bean Ice Cream Ball was kind of a cute gift, but only for a nerdy guy who likes sweets. It's available through LL Bean, REI and Red Envelope and comes in 5 colors. It seems like a lot of work for just a pint of ice cream, but it seems like it would appeal to a certain kind of person.

Just as I predicted, the Red Envelope holiday catalog was full of boring crap like monogrammed golf club covers and key rings and leather dresser valets, bleah. But they do have this kind of cool portable bar thing... a bit pricey, but so swanky...
